About Terra Cotta
Once a mining town founded in 1887, Terra Cotta took shape in the Warm Springs Valley, situated northwest of what is now Lake Elsinore in Riverside County. Over time the settlement was absorbed into the City of Lake Elsinore, erasing much of its independent identity.
Given how thoroughly Terra Cotta was folded into a modern municipality, visitors should not expect classic ghost-town ruins or a remote historic site. The area reflects suburban and civic development rather than preserved remnants of the original community.
