Susanville

Susanville is a ghost town in Grant County, Oregon, tucked into the Blue Mountains along Elk Creek roughly two miles from Galena. Its origins trace to the early 1860s, when gold mining drew prospectors to the area and a camp took shape — sources place its founding somewhere between 1862 and 1864.

Today Susanville exists as a remnant of that short-lived mining era. Visitors coming here should expect a quiet, rugged setting rather than a restored historic site, and access conditions in the Blue Mountains mean the area is most reliably reachable in summer and early fall.
