About Spokane

Spokane is a ghost town in Custer County, South Dakota, that got its start in 1890 as a mining camp in the Black Hills. It operated for several decades before being abandoned sometime in the mid-20th century.

Visitors today encounter a largely vanished settlement typical of the region's forgotten mining era. Access is rural, and the experience is one of open landscape and historical imagination rather than well-preserved structures. Come prepared for self-guided exploration with no developed facilities on site.
