About Sasco

Sasco is a ghost town in Pinal County, Arizona, situated west of Red Rock. Its name is an acronym drawn from the Southern Arizona Smelter Company, which founded it as a company town built around a large smelter that processed ore from several nearby mines.

In its prime, Sasco was considered an impressive, if little-known, piece of Arizona's industrial past. Today the site has shifted from quiet relic to informal recreational outlet. Visitors are likely to encounter shotgun shells, airsoft BBs, paintball splatter, and scattered litter rather than a preserved historic atmosphere, a reality that sets expectations well below the ghost town's former reputation.
