Saltus

Saltus is a ghost town in San Bernardino County, tucked within the Mojave Desert near the Bristol Dry Lake Bed. The community grew up around salt mining and evaporating operations tied to the dry lake, industries that have long since ceased.

Visitors today encounter an abandoned site with the stark, flat landscape of the surrounding dry lake bed as its backdrop. Little infrastructure remains, and the desert setting defines the experience far more than any standing structures.
