About Rio Bravo (former settlement)

Rio Bravo is a vanished settlement in Kern County, California, that once existed along a railroad line roughly two miles north of the community of Panama. Beyond its position on that rail corridor, very little documented history survives about the people or purposes that sustained it.

Visitors today should expect essentially nothing in the way of standing structures or interpreted remains — the site is a historical footnote rather than a developed destination. Its interest is primarily in the landscape itself and the quiet fact that a community once existed here.
