Reward

Reward is a former mining settlement in Inyo County, California, situated on the western flank of the Inyo Mountains at an elevation of 3,865 feet. It lies roughly 9.5 miles north of Lone Pine, placing it in a rugged, high-desert setting characteristic of eastern California.

Given the sparse documentation of this site, visitors should temper expectations. Reward was a mining location, but little is recorded about its peak activity or what physical remnants survive today. Like many ghost towns in the region, it likely offers at most scattered foundations, debris, or earthworks rather than standing structures.

Access to remote Inyo County sites can be demanding, often requiring high-clearance or four-wheel-drive vehicles on unpaved roads. Spring and fall tend to offer the most manageable conditions at this elevation, while summer heat in the desert terrain can be intense and winter travel may become difficult.
