About Ragtown
Ragtown is a ghost town in the Mojave Desert portion of San Bernardino County, California. Its origins trace to the mining activity that took hold in the Bagdad-Chase area around 1898, when John Sutter found gold there. The Old Pete Mine was among the operations associated with the settlement.
Today Ragtown survives as a desert ghost town. Visitors drawn to California's historic mining communities will find this a stark, remote stop — the Mojave setting is unforgiving, and remnants are sparse. Come prepared for extreme heat in summer and limited to no services anywhere nearby.
