Point Pleasant

Point Pleasant was a short-lived village platted on July 14, 1830, by John H. Bartlett in Pine Township, Warren County, Indiana. It sat about a mile and a half southwest of Rainsville, at the meeting of Big Pine Creek and Mud Pine Creek — an area now called Rocky Ford.

The settlement never took root. It amounted to little more than Bartlett's own residence, a liquor store, and possibly a saw mill. An 1883 county history acknowledged the place but dismissed it bluntly as a paper town only — a planned community that existed on a plat more than it ever did on the ground.

Today there are no townsite remains to speak of. Visitors drawn to the Rocky Ford area will find a creek confluence setting in rural Warren County, but should expect no historic structures or marked features tied to Point Pleasant itself.
