About Pittsburg
Pittsburg is a former mining town from the late 19th century, situated roughly 9 miles north of Crested Butte in Gunnison County, Colorado. Despite carrying the label of ghost town, it offers little in the way of historic remains — none of the original structures have survived.
What visitors find today are a handful of cabins, all built after 1973 and used exclusively as summer vacation homes. The area is car-accessible only in warmer months; winter snows cut off road access entirely, making it a seasonal destination at best.
