Pinacate

Pinacate was a small railroad settlement in Riverside County, California, that came into being in 1882 when the California Southern Railroad pushed its line through between Colton and San Diego. Its proximity to the Pinacate Mining District shaped its early identity, but its life as a community was brief. A land title dispute forced residents and businesses to relocate northward, and by 1885 the town had effectively transformed into what became Perris, California.

Today Pinacate exists only as a footnote in Riverside County history. No townsite infrastructure survives in any documented form, and visitors will find little more than open land. The area is of interest mainly to history enthusiasts curious about the region's early railroad and settlement era.
