About Pila Blanca

Pila Blanca is a ghost town tucked into Duval County, Texas, roughly ten miles southeast of Freer and about twenty-five miles west of Alice. Reaching it means turning off Highway 44 and heading a mile and a half south along Farm to Market Road 3196.

What greets visitors today is a quiet, sparse landscape with a handful of remaining residences and structures. A cemetery and an old water tower stand as the most tangible reminders that a community once existed here, though the current population is unknown. There are no established amenities or attractions — this is purely a place for those drawn to forgotten corners of Texas history.
