Pescadito

Pescadito is a ghost town situated near Laredo in the southwestern corner of Webb County, Texas. Its origins trace to the early railroad era — by 1881 it served as a stop along the Texas Mexican Railway, and the community built its economy around supplying mesquite wood as fuel for the railroads. That trade sustained a small population, recorded at 25 residents in 1930, until coal replaced wood as the preferred fuel in 1946, effectively ending the town's primary purpose.

Today Pescadito is a sparsely documented remnant, and visitors should expect little in the way of formal infrastructure or preserved structures. The landscape reflects the dry, brush-covered terrain typical of southwestern Webb County. Access, conditions, and what physically remains on the ground are not well established, so anyone making the trip should research local road conditions in advance and treat this as a remote, self-guided exploration.
