About Pequop

Pequop is a ghost town in Elko County, Nevada, situated along the route that curves around the northern end of the Pequop Mountains, between Cobre and Wells. Its origins trace to the Central Pacific Railroad, which established it as a stop station; it later continued as a non-agency station under the Southern Pacific Railroad. A cluster of buildings was constructed on-site to house the section crews who maintained this stretch of line.

Today Pequop is a sparse remnant of that railroad-era past. Visitors should expect little more than the open high-desert setting and whatever structural traces remain from the crew housing. There are no services, no formal trailheads, and no infrastructure for tourism.
