About Pawn

Pawn is a former unincorporated community in Lane County, Oregon, now considered a ghost town. It occupied a notable geographic position at the headwaters of the North Fork Siuslaw River, the exact point where Sam Creek and West Branch converge to form that river within the Siuslaw National Forest in the Central Oregon Coast Range.

The reference facts do not record an industry, founding date, or population for Pawn, so visitors should arrive without expectations of dramatic ruins or interpretive signage. What the location does offer is a quiet, forested river-headwaters setting. Downstream lies the small community of Minerva, and continuing downstream eventually brings you to Florence, the city near the Siuslaw River's mouth on the Oregon coast.

Access into this part of the Siuslaw National Forest can be limited by wet weather and unpaved forest roads, making late spring through early fall the most practical window for a visit.
