About Ortley
Ortley is a vanished former town in Wasco County, Oregon, situated roughly a mile south of Rowena and about seven miles southeast of Mosier. Nothing physical remains of the original townsite, and the land it once occupied is privately owned.
Despite its near-total disappearance, the USGS still classifies Ortley as a populated place — a bureaucratic footnote to a community that has otherwise left no visible trace. Anyone hoping to explore the site should be aware that access is not available to the public.
