Olive City

Olive City, also known as Olivia, existed for only a few years in the mid-1860s as a town, steamboat landing, and ferry crossing on the Colorado River. Situated on the Arizona bank of the river, it sat roughly a mile above its contemporary rival Mineral City and about half a mile above the original site of Ehrenberg, placing it some three miles southwest of La Paz. By 1866 the settlement had already faded from existence.

Today virtually nothing marks the spot. The site falls within a historically disputed boundary area, with its coordinates placing it in present-day Riverside County even as records associate it with La Paz County, Arizona. Visitors should expect a remote riverside setting with no developed access, facilities, or visible remains — more a point of historical curiosity than a conventional destination.
