Nortons Landing

Norton's Landing was a steamboat stop on the Colorado River, situated on a rocky point of land at 215 feet of elevation in what is now La Paz County, Arizona. Its position was geographic as much as practical: roads connecting district mines in the surrounding mountains converged here at the river's edge, making it a transfer point between overland and water routes. Red Cloud Wash and Black Rock Wash lie just to the west. The site sits 52 miles upriver from Yuma, with Picacho, California roughly 4 miles downstream and the Clip landing about 18 miles to the north.

Today Norton's Landing is a ghost town. Visitors will find the rocky riverside setting and the natural landmarks — the point, the washes — but little in the way of formal access or infrastructure. The Colorado River corridor here is remote, and anyone heading out should come prepared for heat and rough conditions.
