About Norristown
Norristown — also known as Hoboken — was a short-lived Gold Rush-era settlement and steamboat landing along the American River in what is now Sacramento County, California. Like many communities that sprang up during that period, it faded quickly and left little permanent mark on the landscape.
Visitors today will find no standing structures or formal historic site. The location is of interest mainly to history enthusiasts curious about the fleeting settlements that once dotted the river corridor during California's mid-19th-century boom years.
