About Nighthawk

Nighthawk is a ghost town in Okanogan County, Washington, sitting along the Similkameen River. The community's roots lie in gold mining, and its name traces to either a nearby mine or the nighthawk birds once abundant in the surrounding area — accounts differ on which came first.

Today Nighthawk is a quiet, largely abandoned settlement. Visitors drawn to Washington ghost towns will find remnant structures and a river-side setting, but should expect minimal services or infrastructure. It is an unincorporated community, so there is no formal visitor center or maintained historic site.
