About Negro Flat

Negro Flat is a ghost town along the Salmon River in what is now Siskiyou County, California. It originated as a placer gold mining camp in 1850, at which time it fell within the boundaries of Trinity County before later becoming part of Siskiyou County.

Very little documentation survives about the settlement's arc or what remains on the ground today. Visitors drawn to California Gold Rush-era sites may find the riverside setting itself the main reward, as the historical record is thin.
