About Necanicum
Necanicum is a former unincorporated community in Clatsop County, Oregon, tucked into the Northern Oregon Coast Range alongside the Necanicum River, roughly 13 miles southeast of Seaside along U.S. Route 26. Today it functions more as a road junction than a destination, with Necanicum Junction — where U.S. 26 meets Oregon Route 53 — sitting about a mile east of where the old post office once stood. Mail service for the area now runs through Seaside.
Visitors will find little physical evidence of a former community here. The site is best understood as a quiet rural crossroads rather than a place with surviving historic structures or formal attractions. Those with an interest in Oregon's small coastal-range settlements may find the drive along U.S. 26 and the river corridor worthwhile as scenic context.
