About Minersville

Minersville is a ghost town in Otoe County, Nebraska, that began as a railroad town in the 1850s and had ceased to exist as a functioning community by the early 1900s. It sat roughly 5 miles south-southwest of Nebraska City, close to what was then the bank of the Missouri River — until the Army Corps of Engineers redirected the river approximately 1.5 miles to the east, permanently altering the landscape the town once occupied.

Visitors today will find little in the way of standing structures or formal amenities. The site is a historically layered but visually sparse location, and the combination of river rerouting and more than a century of abandonment means the physical footprint of the original town has largely vanished. It is best approached as a quiet piece of regional history for those already exploring the Nebraska City area.
