Mendota

Mendota is a ghost town in Lewis County, Washington, that got its start as a mining community. In the early 1900s it developed enough to support a post office, a hotel, and a school — the hallmarks of a town with real ambitions.

Today Mendota is essentially extinct. Visitors drawn to historic Washington settlements can explore what remains of the townsite, but should expect a quiet, overgrown setting rather than preserved structures. As with most ghost towns in this part of the Pacific Northwest, access and conditions vary by season, and winter weather can make the area difficult to reach.
