About McCornick

McCornick is a near-ghost town in Millard County, Utah, situated in Whiskey Creek Flat about 11 miles northwest of Holden. What exists today is the quiet remnant of an ambitious land development scheme that ran from 1919 until around 1930 before ultimately failing.

Visitors will find only a handful of scattered homes and farms rather than any dramatic ruins or historic infrastructure. The setting is rural and flat, and the site rewards those with an interest in early twentieth-century settlement history more than those seeking conventional outdoor recreation.
