About Marysville

Marysville is a small historic community in Lewis and Clark County, Montana, sitting at an elevation of 5,413 feet. Its past was shaped by gold, and like many settlements built around a single industry, it faded when that era closed. Today it technically retains a residential presence — the 2020 census recorded 82 people — making it something between a living remnant and a true ghost town.

Visitors come to soak in the atmosphere of a place that time has largely passed by. The high elevation means winters are serious, with the site most comfortably reached in the warmer months. Roads to communities at this altitude in Montana can become difficult or impassable in deep winter, so plan accordingly if visiting outside of summer and early fall.
