About Las Vegas
In northeastern Dimmit County, Texas, Las Vegas is a ghost town that once sat along the old San Antonio, Uvalde and Gulf Railroad line. The railroad connection defined the settlement's place on the map, and today the community exists in name only.
Visitors drawn to Texas ghost towns will find little infrastructure here. The surrounding landscape is characteristically sparse, and any remnants of the former settlement are modest at best. Come with realistic expectations, a full tank of gas, and an appreciation for quiet, off-the-beaten-path history.
