Las Ruedas

Las Ruedas was a small Hispanic village that took root in San Miguel County, New Mexico, in the early 1800s, situated along the Pecos River near what is now Rowe on the Los Trigos Land Grant. The community persisted for several decades, and the 1870 federal census records residents living there at the time.

The arrival of the Santa Fe Railroad in the 1880s proved to be the settlement's undoing, drawing most inhabitants away to nearby Rowe. By the 1900 federal census, the population had largely dispersed, and Las Ruedas faded from the map.

Visitors today should expect little to nothing in the way of standing structures — this is a ghost town with no documented surviving remains, and access details are not established. It holds quiet interest for history-minded travelers curious about the region's early Hispanic settlement heritage.
