Juniper Springs

Juniper Springs is a ghost town in Nye County, Nevada, with roots in a brief mining camp that sprang up during the summer of 1910. The settlement took shape on ground where N. E. Dyer, the camp's owner, had located ore. To attract settlers, Dyer distributed lots at no cost — a deliberate contrast to the neighboring rival camp of Athens, where lots sold for $50 to $75. Early commerce centered on the Juniper Lodging House and a store run by Guy Eckley, making them the first businesses to serve the fledgling community.

The reference record for Juniper Springs is thin, and visitors today should expect little more than open desert terrain with at most scattered remnants of the 1910 occupation. This is a remote Nye County location suited to curious history enthusiasts comfortable with rugged, unmarked desert travel.
