Jarbidge

Jarbidge is a historic gold-mining community tucked into the canyon of the Jarbidge River, near the northern end of the Jarbidge Mountains in Elko County, Nevada. It sits within the Jarbidge Ranger District of the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest, close to the northwest boundary of the Jarbidge Wilderness, and only about 10 miles from the Idaho–Nevada state line.

The setting itself is the main draw today — a steep river canyon framing a small, quiet remnant of a once-active gold community. The area's position inside a national forest means the surrounding landscape is public land, making it a worthwhile destination for visitors interested in both history and the rugged canyon scenery.

Regular passenger vehicles can reach Jarbidge, though its remote location in northern Nevada means the drive is long from any major hub. The high-elevation canyon environment makes summer and early fall the most practical window for a visit, with winter bringing conditions that can render access difficult or impossible.
