Hillsboro

Tucked into the southwestern corner of New Mexico, Hillsboro is an unincorporated community in Sierra County with roots stretching back to 1877, when a gold discovery drew settlers to the area. That founding moment set the stage for decades of activity, and the community eventually took on an administrative role as well, serving as the Sierra County seat from 1884 until 1936, when that designation shifted to Hot Springs.
