Gillett

Tucked along the Agua Fria River in Yavapai County at roughly 1,362 feet above sea level, Gillett is a ghost town with roots in Arizona Territory history. The site began as a stagecoach station before evolving into a small settlement centered on an ore mill that served the nearby Tip Top Mine. The town carries the name of Dan B. Gillett, the mining developer behind that operation — though U.S. Topographic Maps and other sources frequently misspell it as Gillette.

Visitors today encounter a quiet, historically layered landscape typical of Arizona's forgotten mining-era communities. The setting along the Agua Fria River adds scenic character, though facilities and formal amenities are essentially nonexistent.
