About El Dorado City

El Dorado City is a ghost town in Clark County, Nevada, sitting at roughly 2,382 feet elevation where January Wash meets El Dorado Canyon. It began as a mining camp within the Colorado Mining District, and its mill drew ore from the Techatticup Mine, located a short distance up the canyon to the north northwest.

The settlement occupied a narrow canyon setting, positioned about a mile below Huse Spring and close to the south southeast of the Techatticup Mine it served. Today it is a ghost town, and visitors come primarily for the stark canyon scenery and the faint historical footprint left behind by its mining-era past.

Access to remote canyon sites like this in the Clark County desert can be rough, and summer heat in this low-elevation canyon environment is a serious concern. Late fall through early spring tends to offer the most manageable conditions for exploration.
