Duquesne

Tucked into the Patagonia Mountains of eastern Santa Cruz County, Arizona, Duquesne is a ghost town that once served as the headquarters of the Duquesne Mining and Reduction Company and the site of the Bonanza Mine. The nearby community of Washington Camp, roughly a mile to the northwest, handled the reduction side of the operation. Together they represent a concentrated piece of the region's industrial past, close to the international border with Sonora, Mexico.

Visitors should know upfront that Duquesne itself is under private ownership and closed to the public. While most of the surrounding roads remain publicly accessible, the town's interior is off-limits, making this more of a drive-by historic landmark than a hands-on exploration site.
