About Clareton
Clareton is a ghost town in the southern portion of Weston County, Wyoming, sitting about a mile south of State Highway 450 within the Thunder Basin National Grassland. The Clareton Oil Field lies to the south and east of the old townsite.
Visitors will find a remote, open grassland setting with little in the way of developed amenities or signage. The landscape itself is the draw for those curious about the area's history and its place within the broader national grassland.
