About Cerro Colorado
Cerro Colorado is a ghost town tucked into southern Pima County, Arizona, reachable off Arivaca Road near the small community of Arivaca. It carries a dark historical reputation, remembered chiefly for the killing of mining employees by Mexican outlaws and persistent legends of buried treasure left behind in the aftermath.
Visitors come today mostly out of curiosity about that violent past and the lore surrounding hidden riches. The remote southern Arizona setting and the weight of that history make it a draw for history enthusiasts and photographers, though the site offers the spare, weathered character typical of forgotten desert settlements.
