About Battelle

Battelle is an unincorporated community in DeKalb County, Alabama, with roots as a once-active mining settlement. It developed along a north–south corridor at the base of Lookout Mountain, roughly five miles north of Valley Head.

Little documented detail survives about what a visitor finds on the ground today. Given its status as an unincorporated ghost community, expect at most scattered remnants of its former presence rather than any maintained site or formal access point.
