Wilson Creek in the Pisgah National Forest near Mortimer is a designated National Wild and Scenic River and one of the premier wild trout streams in the North Carolina High Country. The creek holds wild brown and rainbow trout in beautiful freestone pools and cascades within a remote gorge setting. Delayed harvest regulations in certain sections protect fish populations and provide excellent catch-and-release angling.
