About

The Lava Tube was formed by hot, molten lava oozing across the desert floor 27,000 years ago. Now, visitors can go inside the lava tube to enjoy a unique underground haven with cooler summer temperatures and fantastic photography opportunities.

Access Information:
Two-wheel drive, high clearnace vehicles can usually access the lava tube via the unimproved Aiken Mine Road from North Kelbaker Road. Be sure to check current road conditions to verify the route is open for your type of vehicle, as conditions can change due to weather events. The walking trail from the parking area to the tube is 1/2 mile over rocky terrain.
